The show had its official opener on May 19th at 2:00 PM. This meeting was set up to announce the winners of the show as well as showcase all of the art displayed. Following the awards ceremony, artists, family
and friends gathered around the coffee and pastries, as they prepared to review
all of the art. The halls were filled with admirers. One painting
became the center of attention. It was of "humming birds" by
Nancy Loughlin. Her painting used mylar and a double image process which
had most all of the artists looking with admiration and interest. Nancy
may decide to share her secret with all of us. If she does, I will post it
in the "Member News." Her painting can bee seen in the list
of winners.
Following the awards ceremony and the gathering of artists along the halls, many
went down to the first floor to "Johnny's" for the NPS Awards
Banquet. Moving tables around to form one long table, the artists, family
and friends gathered to share in some fantastic food. Before the
dinner, a call was made to toast the winners and so with beer, coffee, and coke,
the glassed sounded not only for those who only were accepted in this prestigious
show, but also for those who came away with awards.
Becky Fehsenfeld from Indianapolis Indiana had flown into Seattle for the show but her plane was late and so missed the awards ceremony. She made it to the awards banquet and joined in with all of the celebrating artists and fun. The banquet certainly added a note of joy and completion to this show opener. It is hoped that in the future more artists will join us for this "end of show activity."
The show will continue until July 29th. I do hope that as many as can find the time will visit this display. The art has lived up to its billing as some of the finest art that can be assembled. Come join us and see if this claim is true.
